SALMON RIVER RAFTING

The Salmon River is the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 US states. The Salmon River originates in the Sawtooth Mountains near Stanley, Idaho, and carves a path North towards Salmon, Idaho, from whence it runs West through the Frank Church Wilderness area. Near Vinegar Creek, the area becomes designated as recreational and flows for 112 miles past the town of Riggins and follows a portion of Highway 95 towards White Bird, ID, where a 52-mile stretch called the Lower Salmon Gorge or the Canyons of the Salmon River begins and eventually merges with the Snake River near the end of Hell’s Canyon.
